Honesty about Practice Edges

Dear Friends,

Here’s a short video called “honesty about practice edges” just for you:

ChatGPT summarizes thus:

I am sharing an honest update on how I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve been having great conversations with practitioners in the spiritual business world and I want to share my thoughts on how they are able to do so in an honest and authentic way. It’s important to find a balance between serving the audience and being true to oneself. I also mention that I’ve been struggling with procrastination and energy levels after having COVID twice, but what’s helped me lately is taking Rik van de Berge’s listening class and maintaining unconditional positive regard as my “default job.” I admire creators who are honest about their practice edges too.

Relatedly, here’s my recent podcast with Mark where we talked in-depth about meditation practice and our own practice edges:

Here’s my friend PJ Teh’s post about his 3-month long retreat, serving as Ajahn Brahm’s personal lay attendant! (This is a HUGE deal in my tradition.) I fully endorse his description of Buddhist practice, and his comparison of meditation to pooping (sitting = shitting) is highly accurate in my eyes. I re-read his post often for inspiration.

(Recorded conversation about practice between PJ, me, and Takamichi coming soon! Thinking about naming it Kalyāṇa-mitta Conversations…)

Warm Wishes,

Christin
